Our commitments at Cotélac

At Cotélac, each season, our teams strive to select sustainable, high-quality materials, showcase the expertise of our partner workshops, and prioritize more environmentally friendly solutions. This demanding approach is fueled by the same spirit of creativity and innovation that has driven the company since its inception.

From mother-of-pearl to corozo, nature at the heart of the craft

At Cotélac, because every detail counts, all our buttons are made from natural materials: mother-of-pearl, sourced from pearl farming, and corozo, the fruit of the ivory palm tree.

Chosen for their durability and beauty, these materials embody our quest for authenticity and sustainability, right down to the most discreet finishes.

Expertise and materials: a masterful combination

The pleating, bouillonné, and sublimation techniques are all carried out in our workshop in Ambérieu-en-Bugey, France. These processes, which make Cotélac unique, require polyester-based fabrics to ensure durability and rich effects.

In order to combine textile innovation with environmental standards, we favor fiber blends or certified recycled polyesters.

These creations are our most iconic pieces, the ones we keep and pass on.

Bamboo, paper, kapok...

With creativity and innovation at the heart of each of our pieces, Cotélac is constantly searching for new materials and technologies to bring them to life.

Our collections feature a wide variety of sometimes surprising compositions:

  • paper, which is prized for its dry, fresh feel and unique texture;
  • bamboo, which adds softness and fluidity and requires four times less water to grow than cotton;
  • kapok, a silky, lightweight plant fiber used for its elasticity and heat resistance;
  • wood fiber, which is biodegradable and allows for greater breathability;
  • cupro, which is used as an alternative to silk due to its more environmentally friendly manufacturing process.

Local roots and exceptional expertise

For decades, Cotélac has chosen to favor and support French workshops in order to maintain and preserve this expertise in France. These partners are located within a 50 km radius of our headquarters.

To print these fabrics using traditional methods,
Cotélac works with a French company renowned for its remarkable expertise in textile printing.
This long-standing partnership is central to the development of our prints, with a strong commitment to preserving local jobs and promoting regional expertise.

For its jacquards and brocades,
Cotélac also calls on a century-old French company that perpetuates exceptional expertise in weaving and has evolved over generations by investing in cutting-edge technologies.
This close collaboration allows us to create unique jacquards and brocades that are 100% made in France.
